Acne therapy

Acne therapy

Acne plagues. It's manageable. Acne skincare items abound. Acne skincare items fall into three categories:

  1. Anti-acne drugs
  2. Over-the-counter, specialized acne skin care items
  3. Prescription acne skin care.

General acne skin care items prevent acne. These include acne-preventing soaps, makeup removers, and others. These acne skin care items are actually those you should use daily. Some are more like acne skin care products. These acne skin care products reduce sebum/oil production and avoid pore clogging. These acne skin care items prevent oil from clogging pores and inhibit acne-causing bacteria. Skin peels are part of regular acne skin care. These remove dead skin cells, preventing pore-clogging and germs growth.

Over-the-counter acne skin care items are available. Vanishing balms remove excess oil. Most acne skin care products contain antibacterial benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid (and hence acne). Start with 5% benzoyl peroxide to see how your face reacts. Alpha-hydroxy-acid moisturizers are common acne treatments. You may need to try several acne skin care products before finding one that works. Consult a physician if nothing works.

Dermatologist-prescribed acne skin care items. Ointments, oral antibiotics, or any topical therapy can be used. Dermatologists may recommend a small surgical treatment to remove pustule contents. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to permanent harm of your skin. Your doctor may recommend hormone therapy (since hormonal changes are also known to cause acne). Some acne skin care items work well.

With all those acne skin care items, treating acne is easy.
